Sometimes I like to think about my friends. Not the people who I’m friends with now, but the people I’ll meet in my future. I like to think about what I might contribute to their lives. I like to think about what I might gain from this future friend.
It makes me think, is this what they call loneliness? If it is, then do these future friends feel the same feeling I do? Are they sitting alone in the dark, thinking about me, dreaming about the things we’ll do together and the places we’ll go?
I think we all feel the tug of loneliness, and I think it should be embraced. Loneliness shouldn’t be just the desire for company; it should drive us to dare to imagine. To imagine a future where the person we want to have in our life is there.
This feeling is something we all have in common. We all feel lonely sometimes. In that loneliness, we are united. To all of those souls who spend nights awake with nothing but your own head to keep you company,
You are not alone in your loneliness.
