Evening at the Apple Farm by DarkFlame75 Evening at the Apple Farm by DarkFlame75
This is a remake of this picture from last January:
Evenings at Sweet Apple Acres by DarkFlame75

Tumblr post, please reblog from here instead of reposting

My plan is to offer this as a print at a couple of cons this year. Watch my journal or my tumblr to find out which cons as I get more info.

As for the content of the painting... I don't know? What do you think Applejack's doing to relax after a hard days' work on the farm? It sure does look hot out there, she'll probably just relax with some apple cider and go to sleep.

1920x1080. or, you could just make the pic just downloadable XD
either is fine. though latter is preferred.
if you aren't willing for other people to download you can just email it to me. I won't share it or nothin.

Here's a 1080p crop for you. I disabled downloads because I'm going to be selling this as a print, and I don't want the full resolution version out there for everyone at least until after that.

Yeah, I made the original size for an 17x11 print, which is taller than a 16:9 monitor, so I had to chop off a little bit for it to fit.

How often/many a day do you draw? I've recently started and am looking for tips if you've got any.

I do my best to do some amount of art every single day, but sometimes I go through short phases where I have no motivation and I need a break. I would say (in math terms) it's probably an average of 0.8 times a day. Sometimes I go on a spree and sketch like mad, sometimes I do nothing all day.
As for tips, it's the cliche "practice practice practice." When you start off, it's helpful to get yourself to draw as often as possible, but it's even more important to not beat yourself up if you miss a day. You didn't draw yesterday? Oh well, that's fine, just don't do it again. If you beat yourself up over missing a day, you feel less motivated to draw today, and it creates a downward spiral.
I also highly recommend finding an artist who you can look up to who makes themselves available to ask questions, preferably regularly. Many people say to find someone who's slightly better than you to create a "rivalry," but I haven't really done that so much.
The hardest thing you will face as an artist is motivation to do art. Art is 1% talent, 9% practice, and 90% perseverance. Art is sometimes very painful, you have to push through a lot of stress sometimes, but it is worth it in the end. Learning all the rules of art and the act of creating art itself are a piece of cake compared to actually having to will to learn those things.

I'm glad you decided to do the re-make, because it turned out awesome. I especially love the sense of depth you create with the lighting and the layers of scenery.

Thank you! I'm glad I did it too. I finally got to do justice to the idea I had for the original, or at least nearly.

That shading is impressive. The warm colors really compliment Applejack's palette and highlight the green of her eye. A definite improvement over the older version in my opinion. Great stuff.
